Property Management
As individual Chartered Surveyors and as a firm, White Residential Surveyors are subject to the regulatory control and bye laws of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). These regulations cover, amongst others, the following matters which we are required to abide by:
- To have qualified, or be qualifying, as a Chartered Surveyor. This normally involves obtaining a degree and then passing a test assessing professional competence after a minimum of two years appropriate experience supervised by a Chartered Surveyor. Thereafter, members are obliged to undertake continuing professional development to ensure that they keep abreast of changes relating to the property sector
- A Code of Conduct governing ethics;
- The RICS Service Charge Residential Code (2nd Edition);
- Avoiding, and dealing with, conflicts of interest;
- Procedures for recording and holding client’s money;
- Protection of client’s money.
- To have proper Professional Indemnity Insurance to cover situations where negligent advice or actions occur;
- To have an effective and independent Complaints Handling Procedure enabling aggrieved clients to implement a system of redress; and
- We are obliged to submit annual information returns to the organisation regarding our activities.
The RICS is continually reviewing procedures to be consistent with the evolution of business practices.
